Evidence of the arms used by Carthaginian infantry is provided by stelae, on which helmets, cuiras
ses, round shields, spears, and swords are represented. There were various types of sword, including the curved ones used by mercenaries from Spain and the long slashing swords of the Celtic mercenaries.\par
The light infantry used the sling, while the
cavalry relied on the short sword. The numerous arrowheads found in Carthage testify to the existence of units of archers as well.\par
